{cabin fever}

Sunday afternoon, we all had enough of staying indoors due to the bitter cold weather. Everyone was tired of playing Wii, board games, watching movies and our 2 littles were even sick of playing with their toys! My diagnosis was that we had a healthy dose of cabin fever.
So my prescription for our little ailment was to get outside... we made the short drive to one of our very favorite places, the north shore of Lake Mendota in Madison. What Grace and Will were surprised about was all the ice and snow on the lake and that you could actually walk on it. They both loved it. :)

Even though Will looks like a frozen icicle in the above picture, he was warm and toasty and happy to be outside. He didn't object at all to being there. Usually he's not fond of the snow and cold and I can't really blame him for that.

Grace was determined to find the ice under the snow, which she accomplished. Will was fascinated by the hockey game going on and
would have watched it forever. Maybe someday he'll play hockey like his big brother Nick.

Our snow bunny would have stayed outside all afternoon but eventually we had to leave, it was terribly cold and windy. Both kids fell asleep in the car on the way home. You know Winter has just started and we're trying to enjoy it...but I sure wouldn't mind if Spring came early this year!

This looks like such a great family day. I'm not a fan of the cold, but somehow seeing the kids play in it makes it easier to bear. I love all of these beautiful captures of your day. The tree shot at the top is gorgeous!! And love that bottom photo of Grace in her hood. So glad you were able to get out and enjoy the day together!

That's the right attitude. It's too early to hope in vain for spring. Better to embrace what we have and enjoy it somehow.

Looks like you all had a ball. Carpe diem.

What adorable winter lake pictures! The kids look sooo cute all decked out in their snow gear! We had cabin fever too so we went sledding last weekend!

Brrrrrrrr! Glad the kids had fun though, I think a frozen lake would be pretty cool to see! (though not in my backyard, LOL) Hope y'all have a great week!

I like your photos, very nice. I love the one of the fishing house, with the little tree beside it. :)

I'm so excited to have some "warm" temps around here this week. Hoping that maybe things will melt a bit.

No cabin fever here yet, but the winter is young. I do know that we have to get out as much as possible to prevent it. Never to soon to hope for an early spring. :)

Gail the snow is beautiful! I KNOW it's cold though...we had a "taste" of winter last week in Houston - 20 degrees - we were soooo cold! I know why we live in the south!! Although I did enjoy your scenes of winter.

Love the last picture of Miss. Grace, it's simply stunning.

Beautiful pics as always Gail!

You could always come to GA for a visit. Of course, we have had our longest "cold snap" ever since before Christmas. It is freezing here...at least to us. I'm sure to you it would seem like a heat wave!
I hope you are doing well!

Wow....you really DO live in the frozen tundra, Gail.
These images make me want to be there with all of you...trekking in the cold and feeling the crisp air in my face...er, or maybe I'll just stay here at my warm desk sipping coffee and just looking at your pictures.

That shot of Grace is just stunning, as always!

The only cure for cabin fever is to get outside! Nothing quite like all that fresh air and rosy cheeks. I'm with Will-the hockey game looked like fun.
