365 Project - February

Fave Feb Photos

Thought I'd squeek in one last post for the month of February.
These are some of my favorites from my daily pics (taken with either iphone or dslr).
1. Grace and friends playing Minecraft, I loved the light on her face.
2. The prompt was 'togetherness,' this is Dan, Will and Grace
watching a karate demonstration for Chinese New Year.
3. 'Flowers' - tulips with a vintage watering can.
4. 'Love' - a Valentine's day doughnut.
5. The Father - Daughter dance, that is one proud daddy with
his little girl!
6. 'Something new' - I'm ready for Spring and have been wearing these new shoes,
Winter seems to want to stay.

Purple Love

Purple Love 1

Her favorite color is purple, all forms of it.
 Lavender
 Orchid
Plum
Violet
Fuschia
though a deep Purple (as in her coat) is her preferred hue.

Purple Love 2

She loves to wear purple clothing
and accessories.
Her current favorites are a black and purple striped zebra
top with  matching earrings.
Have to get a photo of her in that one soon. ;)
And I will, I want to remember this age forever.

Purple Storyboard

Her newest idea is to have a purple bedroom,
we will have to see if we can make that happen.
Maybe this Spring?
I love this girl.

Spring arrives in 31 days(doesn't seem so far away
when you put it that way).

Ranunculus 3

It's that time of the year when Midwesterners of the Northern variety start
to get a little stir crazy with all the ice and snow.
Color helps me.
Especially of flowers. :)

Happy Hearts Day!

Valentine's Day 2

My kids are ready for Valentine's day...decorated boxes are made and are
at school. Valentine's were carefully chosen and our first grader Will
signed and addressed most of them for his classmates.
(He was getting a little tired towards the end, so I took over).
They're both quite excited about their Valentine parties tomorrow at school.

I get inspiration from all kinds of places for photos.
Sometimes it's a cute prop, a location, flickr, pinterest or a piece of clothing.
This time it was Grace's striped socks that got me thinking
about a Valentine card I had in mind.

Valentine's Day 1

Mr. Will easily thought of ways to improvise with the mustache.
He's a 'ham' through and through!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Chinese New Year!

CNY 2 WM

Xin Nian Kuai Le!
Wishing you health, prosperity and happiness in this year of the snake!

CNY 4 WM

Since Grace was a teeny tiny girl, we have made it a tradition to celebrate
and welcome Chinese New Year (also known as the Spring festival).
I have snapshots of her with her travel group sisters at age 17 mos.
Photos of her at age 3 in a restaurant in Chicago next to a lion dancer.
She was a little bit afraid of that big lion head, as I remember.

After we moved from the Chicago area up to Wisconsin
we've found more ways to welcome Chinese New Year.

This weekend we spent much of our Saturday with
our local Madison FCC group at their Chinese New Year celebration.
We enjoyed singing performances by Madison's International School,
Kung Fu (Grace and Will's favorite), and watched several Chinese dance groups.

We ended the day with dinner at our favorite restaurant and
spent time with the owners...
Will's unofficial Chinese 'Grandparents' who
come from the same city and province (Fuzhou in Fujian Province)
that Will was born.
They adore our little boy and give him little gifts and big
hugs everytime they see him.
It's wonderful for Will to have this connection.
Grace too...they always include her.

Will was not so much for individual photos so I was lucky to get this one of him
with Grace.

A Million Little Things

Slumberfest WM

"Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things."
Unknown

Slumberfest WM - 2

Take 4 ten year olds girls and one 8 year old girl(little sister to Julia N.).
Add to that a weekend slumber party with their moms,
you end up with the "First Annual Slumberfest 2013."
Maybe it should have been called a gigglefest.
Grace and her Chinese sisters (all born in the Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province area)
and fellow travel group members, love getting together.
We make a priority in our lives to make this happen as often as we can
and hope to do it more frequently this year.
Next to these girls' relationship with each of their parents,
this important relationship is the longest they've had in their 10 years.
One we will continue to cherish and nurture.

I was the 'official' photographer of the weekend and here are some
of my favorite images.
The girls loved dancing Gangnam style, playing Minecraft on their ipods,
watching movies and of course eating.
Thank you Michelle for your hospitality and TLC!

Glimpse

Waiting 1

I am patiently waiting for Spring.
Well most days.
In the mean time purple tulips help quite a bit.
