project 52 - 1/52

1-52 Will
(Looking at this one I need to make a note to myself to get this boy's hair cut...it is getting a little long)
One of my goals for the New Year with photography
is to continue to learn more and get out of my comfort zone.
I feel like I play it safe and try what's comfortable for me.
There are so many things I haven't attempted to try.
I didn't think I could fulfill a one a day picture but can do one a week for the year.

Last year I worked hard on trying to capture an emotion or feeling in my images.
(Not that I certainly achieved it every single time, by any means).
Whether it was evoking it in the subject or attempting to show a relationship between people.

So here's my first one.
Yesterday, I was watching Will as he played with his Buzz Lightyear toy.
This is no exceptional picture, really just a snapshot of what we do around here a lot (which is play).
I loved his expression of contemplation and maybe thinking
about what he might do next.

I processed it minimally using Lightroom and then CS3.
Removed some of the afternoon snack of an apple he'd eaten previously off his face
and boosted the contrast with curves.
Also removed some noise in Lightroom because my ISO was up.

I have no idea where this is going to go, other than getting me to take pictures more often.
They may be snapshots, portraits, a landscape, an object in my home, or something silly...who knows.
I may write a little story with it or not.

I will write about how I processed the image. (I think).

Happy Friday! :)

I love how Will is so deep into thought. I almost wish I could read his mind and find out what he was thinking right at that moment. You are such a smart one not to commit to such a daunting project as a 365. Can't say that much about me! ;-)

You and I are on the same boat. I always love the way you process your work. You make me want to just leave your blog up on my computer so I can admire your rotating header photos (Natalie loves to do that too!).

I so look forward to what you come up with each week. I might just have to steal a few ideas from you during the year.

Happy Friday Gail!

Hugs,
Grace

Gail, I love this post and Will's sweet look on his face as he plays without looking at you.

Please email me about the noise removal software for LR. I'm considering some new software and would love to know your opinions and how to use it!

Hugs and love,
Jill
Who is also doing P52 with Darcy on flickr.

Did you say this was "no exceptional picture"?!!! Now, that's a joke!

Happy Friday!

For someone who "points and shoots", this post is pretty much in another language to me, but I had to laugh at your indecisiveness. I might, I may, I will, well, I think I will. Sometimes it's fun to go into something without knowing exactly what you want out of it. Looking forward to your weekly shot, even if I don't understand what all the lingo means. :)

Love the concentration you captured. He is so adorable!!! I have committed to 365 but not publishing every day... putting them in a template form Jessica Sprague and publishing at the end of the month.
Blessings and Joy!!!
