black and white Wednesday - my heart

black dress 1 WM

For you see, each day I love you more
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

In my daughter's eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I'm weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

~Martina McBride

At 8 years old I'm a big part of her world.
Right now we are best friends and confidants, sometimes she asks questions and we talk...
about life, school, friendships, creating things, her dolls, dance, God, China...you name it, we talk about it.
In five years I don't imagine we'll talk quite so much...
but I hope so.

It's been such an honor to have been chosen to be her mother.
For now I live in the present and relish these magical times
and special moments that a mother and daughter can share.

Grace is all that is good, with the kindest of hearts.
The definition of a gentle soul.
An angel.

Grace and I went out on Sunday afternoon in search of a place with beautiful window light.
We found it at the Memorial Union at our nearby university in a quiet study room which faced North.
It was snowing over the lake and so peaceful.

These were edited with Florabella's new Luxe II actions. For the color versions I used 'Smitten'
and the black and whites, 'Film w/grain.'

Hop on over to Lisa's Black and White Wednesday to see what she's up to
and many more beautiful black and whites.

My favorite is the one of Grace looking out the window with her back to the camera. It's a very poetic image.

wow! wow! wow! gorgeous!

gail i will pray that for you too. because lexi and i still talk about everything. we are now friends in a new way - a better way and sisters in Christ. it is amazing to raise a daughter (well in my case i pray to do this four more times) to love you - but to love the Lord more than anything and watch God work in that so you share something much more special than what it ever was when they were 8. praying this for you too!

oh I hope you will be talking as much in 5 years too. But, if not then you will again. That is a promise.

That girl is a true beauty. And, you know I love her dress!

Wow... Grace looks so beautiful in these pictures. The lighting is perfect. Natalie wants to know how she's wearing such a "fancy" dress with no sleeves when it's snowing outside. :-) I told her she is inside a heated room and will put a snow coat on when she gets ready to leave. We are so naive when it comes to dressing for the cold weather.

Happy Wednesday to you!

Hugs...

BEAUTIFUL in every way! She is gorgeous...and I love the use of window light. What a cool location!

I feel the same way....especially about Nick. He is so good about talking with us about what is going on in his life.... I hope it continues. He is at the critical stage where Mom and Dad can easily get "left out" of the equation.

Have a wonderful week~

xoxo,

Lisa

Absolutely gorgeous!!! The photog and the words... not to mention the your precious angel!!! I want to say, my girls are my best friends and always will be!!! There is a time when they don't talk as much but given the space they need with much support, they still talk on their terms. I am always there to listen. I guess the best advice would be just that... as teenagers, they just need you to listen and just be there. Then when they are older teenagers, one day they start talking and you know all about them once again. :) Praying for all our girls and boys. :)
Blessings and Joy!!!

Wow Gail (am I repeating myself here?) These are GORGEOUS!!!! The light is so soft and creamy, your sweet girl is divine - I love her flower - that may be the biggest one I've ever seen - and the location = perfection.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we can always talk and be this close. Let's hope!

I didn't realize she was only 8. She looks older. She is gorgeous and I am sure you are going to fight off the boys.

These pics and your daughter are so beautiful. This post really struck me. Katie is so much like Grace...an angel on earth. You and I both know how they grow and change into adults and their need for us lessens but we both have never experienced that evolution with a daughter. I think that you and I will always have a special and treasured closeness with our daughters. We are so blessed.

Fabulous pictures Gail! Some of my favorite of Grace I've ever seen you do. She looks so serene and content with what she is seeing outside.

Your relationship will always be what you have now with her. Yes there will be times of strain and silence but she knows who she can trust and she knows your love is always there. Just keep talking and she'll keep talking! You both are lucky girls!
