7/52 - Winter scene

skating

I drive by this beautiful park with it's ponds and bridges about once a week.
It's near the university and Lake Mendota in Madison.
Sunday afternoon I took a drive and then walked this lovely park in the snow.
I captured these families having fun, it was quiet except for the sound of their blades on the ice.
I find that sound familiar and like it very much.

The wild thing is that in the 5 days since I took this picture,
we've had a huge thaw and a great deal of our snow is gone...
And I'm sure not complaining about that. :)

Oh Gail I LOVE this picture :) The processing is beautiful - it just has such a dreamy old fashioned feel . . . (plus it was taken right where I grew up and has me wondering if this is the location I think it is!)

Yay for the thaw - and for the beautiful photo taken right before the thaw!!

Enjoy the GORGEOUS weather!

I can almost hear those swishing sounds as I look at your photo. It's so beautiful...I love the pop of color from the skaters clothing.

It's hard to believe all that snow and ice might be gone in such a short few days. I'm so glad it's starting to warm up a bit for you. I know you're longing for some sunshine and warmer temps....maybe spring is in the air!

Enjoy your Friday Gail. We are heading over to Natalie's school today for their Italian Festival. It's a huge production...carnival rides, carnies searching for gullible parents and loads of junk food. Can't wait to try and photograph the Ferris wheel at dusk.

Hugs....
Grace

this looks awesome! I think I have seen some of your other pictures in this area and I LOVE them all.

I love the sounds of blades on the ice too!

Don't worry my friend, winter isn't over yet! Good grief it should be!

Except for the colorful outfits in the front - this could have been from the 1950's. What a lovely feel it has. Great shot!

Enjoy the Spring tease. Hope it lasts!
