black and white Wednesday - October morning

barn-2

"Bittersweet October.
The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of Summer and Winter."

- Carol Bishop Hipps

A good word (at least to me) that describes the month of October is 'mellow.'
There's something calm about it in a way.
Kids are in school, and we are back to a routine.
We can enjoy the beautiful Fall 'show' that's now beginning outdoors.

I have lived in the Midwestern part of the United States for most of my life.
(4 states -  Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin).
I also lived in California and southeastern North Carolina for a fair amount of time.
They're incredibly beautiful states and I loved my time there,
but unfortunately they don't experience a Fall like we do.
When I lived out West or in the South I missed our Midwestern Autumns very much.
I suppose the trade off is their warmer Winters without snow and cold.

These were taken at one of the beautiful farms that are abundant in Southern Wisconsin.
It's getting colder here now, we've been wearing our sweaters and jackets in the mornings.
You can tell Grace and Will's hands were a little bit chilly in the picture.
Right after I took this, Will leaned forward off the back of the truck and did a perfect
forward roll in the grass. (And said ta-da! with a huge smile on his face)

That's our Will. ;)

Please hop on over to The Long Road to China to see more black and whites. :)

Oh Gail! That photo of your littles in the back of the pick-up truck is amazing. Perfected with the pumpkins and potatoes. I just love how you cropped it.

I'm so in love with Fall too.

And I'm also in love with Grace's boots and cardigan. :)

Gorgeous photos, Gail! And oh how I miss a REAL fall. I know exactly what you mean. Where we are, we are lucky to get even 3 weeks of fall. And most of the time, it rains!

Beautiful shots! The last two of the siblings are just gorgeous. I'm having a hard time deciding which one I like best, both versions are stunning.

Thank you for giving me my weekly dose of "fall". ;-) After reading your post I sat back and closed my eyes and imagined what it must be like living where you are right now. I imagine it to be heavenly....

Beautiful photos of such beautiful children. I love the last one with Will's arm around Grace's back. So sweet!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Gail, I just love the feel of this post. So serene and peaceful and your shots finish off the visual of that feeling.

Just beautiful, my friend.

Gorgeous as always. Love that last one of the pair in the truck. I have ideas for a similar shot at my in-laws pumpkin farm, if I ever find time this fall. And I totally know what you mean about experiencing fall. I don't think I could live in a place where I didn't get to enjoy this time of year!

Oh my -- those are such beautiful pictures! That Grace and Will -- they are such cuties!

Love fall in Nebraska too, it's just that darn cold winter and snow seems to follow it and hang around forever!

Happy Wednesday!

So beautiful Gail! I visited Wisconsin once in the summer time and I can only imagine how lovely it is this time of year. Funny being a Texas girl and now living in Northern Ca. I feel like I am getting to experience real "fall days" here. :)

Really nice photos! Isn't October beautiful? I always feel so blessed to see the beauty.
Maybe I should talk Alan into a little day trip over to Wisconsin. Oh that would be lovely. We don't have to travel far over the border to LOVE it. :)

Such beautiful images, Gail! I know you must love fall in Wisconsin! It's starting to resemble fall here in TN., but it's a slow start. Love the pic of the two of your kiddos!

Gee ma nee! Your good Gail! Man oh man what I would do to have your eye for pictures and, of course, your skills with the camera. One day, maybe?!

Where we live here in Texas we don't have a fall season. When it gets down to low 80's. we start saying we're hitting fall. When the corn maze is up and running we say it's fall! lol

I always love Grace's outfits. Those boots are awesome and the sweater is so darn cute!

Stunning images, as always.

The love between those two just jumps out at me in every photo. How amazing that these two get to walk hand in hand throughout live as brother and sister...how completely incredible!
