black and white Wednesday

'See things from the boys point of view.' ~ Robert Baden - Powell

(Will told me he was drawing a picture of a race track)

Last Friday I spent the afternoon with my favorite 4 year old in the whole world, my son Will. He doesn't have preschool on Fridays, so I let him pick something that he'd like to do. Just him and me. This time it was going to one of his favorite parks. I took many snapshots...and yes, I do take snapshots. :) In fact I take pictures of my kids almost every day.

Will is ALL boy and it's not hard to see that I think. And being a busy 4 year old, he loves water of any kind and throwing rocks, and the bigger the splash in the water the better. If you look closely you can see he got a couple of leaves in with this rock. He's got a pretty good arm on him...you never know, maybe he'll play baseball someday.

After many trips down the slide, drawing pictures in the sand, swinging, playing on the see-saw and all that rock throwing, he took a little rest. And he smiled sweetly for me. In the last few months I've seen him change from a toddler to a little boy. My funny, smart and loving son ...William is always a bit of sunshine in my day.

(He loves his blue rain boots and wears them pretty much every single day.)

You know I loved these images very much in color, and I wasn't too sure how they'd turn out in black and white and now I'm thinking I like them this way also. :)
Please hop over to Lisa's blog for more black and whites and Happy Wednesday!

Love them, Gail!
THe texture, the energy, the "boy-ness" of them.
So much fun to see the other side of the coin.

There's my favorite boy in the whole-wide-world! How lovely you can spend some quality time with Will on Friday, I'm sure he loves his alone time with you! So, he wears rainboots and you wear track shoes (to keep up with him) right? LOL...you have one sweet boy there. I love these photos, especially the one of him drawing his race track! These are perfect black and whites Gail!

It looks like you and Will had a great little outing. Boys and throwing rocks in the water - it doesn't get much better for them, does it?

I hope you are having a great week!

Gail...

Will is just the quintessential little boy. I love the photo of him throwing the rocks and leaves into the water. I can so see my little Liam doing the same (he too is such a "boy"). Your pictures don't even require a narration on your part, they speak volumes on their own.

Happy Wednesday!

Awh...this is my favorite kind of day. Just one on one, letting the kiddos do exactly what their little heart's desire. And bonus, we get to share in it!

Love these "snaps". The feel, the angles and especially that sweet face!

Those are great pictures Gail!! I love all the natural elements and how they add more definition to the pictures. Beautiful!!

Four was my favorite age with Jacob and he too wore his black and red rain boots everywhere, along with the rest of his fireman get up! LOL!!

Enjoy your Fridays with your boy.

What a sweet little man you have there and what a fun day at the park with Mom!
Yes, at 4 you really start to see the change of leaving toddlerhood! Actually 4 is my favorite age for all my kids!!

What fun! Your little Will reminds me so much of my oldest when he was that age - ALL BOY! My 13 year old could still throw rocks in water all day long . . . and he does play baseball!

These are wonderful in b&w - they have that timeless feeling of a boy playing as boys have done since the beginning of time!

Aww, that last one is too cute! His smile just lights up his whole face.
