crazy?

Sitting on those cute chairs at the UW Memorial Union.
Sweet little man...thinking.

definition of crazy: unusual, crooked, mad, insane, disturbed, impractical or unusual.
Over the years Dan and I have had many comments(unsolicited of course) made to us about adoption. Namely...us adopting at the age we are. Now we are very healthy, active people who just happen now to be 50. The most common remark we hear is that we are 'crazy.' Are we crazy? I like to think not but being the type of people we are have pretty much always been comfortable who we are, what we believe in and think is right for our family.
Is it crazy to want to adopt a child and love them from a far years before you meet them? No. Is it crazy to be called to do something much bigger than your own wants or needs? No. I know we ARE crazy in love with these children that we've been blessed with. In the next few months Dan and I have some serious thinking and praying about what comes next for our family. Meanwhile we keep on going and enjoying these 2 immensely.

If more people were as "crazy" as you are, the world would be a better place...

Oh girl, you are FAR from crazy!! It is funny how quick other people are to judge our lives and decisions. As you said, it doesn't matter what other people think or say, it is what is in your hearts!

I wish you and Dan all the best as you work through some of the decisions at hand......(I am getting giddy at thought of what might be NEXT for your family)

Luv Ya,

Lisa

BTW, GORGEOUS photos of the dynamic duo....the colors, the expressions you captured...Pure Perfection my friend!

Gail, Thank You So Much for the super sweet comment you left on my blog. I'll take "crazy" any day of the week if it means loving on my kids no matter how they come to us. And if being crazy is to follow the calling to do something bigger then ourselves then bring it on. This ride we have been on to find Gavin has foever changed my life and the people I have met because it, I am so gratful.
Hugs back at you my friend.

Oh Gail -- I can so relate! We had so many of the same comments and now I get asked if I'm the grandmother! we still get the "glad it's you and not me" comments -- even from family members! Crazy happy, I say!

Enjoy your sweet family and a wonderful weekend together. Those photos and colors are incredible!!!

I'm with you sister! I wasn't a spring chicken when I received my girls, but it is how God intended. My children, as are yours, are some of the greatest gifts to this world. So glad you followed your heart.
BTW, you don't look near 50...what's your secret?

Crazy? If only people would open their eyes and realize that they haven't lived until they come join us on the Crazy Side.

I have been "crazy" for most of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way.

50 is the new 35, Gail...haven't you heard?

Your babies are beyond gorgeous...but you know that already!

Hugs to my Fellow Crazy,
Dita

Crazy like a fox! One could say I'm crazy too, adopting as a single... but I'm not, I'm just loving what God blessed me with!

Gail, I hope that what you have to think about is not as ominous as it sounds.

I am 44; G is 50. People said the same thing to us, especially since we were almost child-free at last. One blogger, in fact, who is older than both of us and adopted himself a child younger than us, had the nerve to ask why we weren't just happy with our grandson (even though he, too, had a granddaughter). What was that all about? That message came right after I posted our referral information-I deleted it, of course.

How dare anyone question what brings joy and fulfillment to others?

I'm from a family of 11 children born over 24 years' time and I think that, in the end, the only mark you really make on this world is the people you leave behind. Leaving happy, healthy, secure children is greater than any trophies in a case or plaques that bear your name. Trophies and plaques don't love you back. They don't try your patience, granted, but they also don't make you stop and look at things with fresh eyes and the wonder of childhood.

One of my favorite expressions is, "What other people think of you is none of your business". Don't worry, be a happy Mom and Dad.

I'd like to be crazy, just like you! Seriously, you are not crazy at all. Just a mom who is crazy in love with her life!
