enjoying the season

Last week Dan and I had the pleasure of attending Will's preschool
Holiday program.
Above is a short clip of one of the songs two of the classes sang.
Will is on the left.
They are singing 'Epo E Tai Tai E'- a Hawaiian children's song.
I love the hand movements and Will's bow at the end.

Thursday after school was out we made a gingerbread house.
From a kit. (Costco- $10)
I'm not that industrious to make one from scratch.
They had a blast.

And yes I let him eat icing after we were finished...it's hard to turn down a request from Will.
Especially when he asks nicely.
And is so darn cute. ;)

And Sunday, Grace and I went to the Nutcracker for the 4th year in a row.
The Madison Ballet does a beautiful job with their production.
Going to the Nutcracker has been one of my Christmas traditions since
before I had children.
First in Raleigh, NC, and later in San Jose, CA
and then Chicago with my son Nick when he was a little boy.
That is until he was about 10.
Couldn't coerce him to go after that.

This year Grace asked for a Nutcracker snow globe
and I gave it to her before we left for the show.
She's holding it in the picture.

You know I do many of these posts for people
who know Will through his foster home in China to see how he's doing.
And for friends and family who live far away.

5 more days until Christmas!

I love the gingerbread house pictures! We made one a couple of weeks ago and the kids had a blast! They, too, enjoyed eating the frosting!

I took Kamree to The Nutcracker for the first time yesterday. I plan to make it a tradition. Where did you find that snow globe? I must have one for her!

Gail - every photo you take tells a story - full of love and joy! Thanks for sharing your children with us and your amazing photography skills! The last photo of grace is a piece of art! Honestly breathtaking!

I miss seeing the Nutcracker. I have not gone in years. I went as a child every year to the PA Ballet. I saw Mikhail Baryshnikov last performance live in it. AMAZING is all I can say! That performance will live in my mind forever. I was a classically trained dancer and often miss it. One day I will dance for eternity with Jesus - perfectly too!!! Now that will be joyous!!!!

Hugs and blessings to your beautiful family! I adore getting to know you all!

I have to say, I'm a bit jealous of your Nutcracker tradition. I have never seen it, not once. I need to change that, because Chloe would love it too! Such wonderful family traditions you share with your kiddos. And Will is a doll, love his bow too!

I love the beginning where he is finding his rhythm! The whole thing is so adorable.

Miss Grace looks very beautiful all dressed up for the ballet.

"5 days" is right! How exciting.

What a great job Will did at his performance. I love the song they sang. He is quite good with choreography. ;-)

Okay... your gingerbread house turned out WAY better than ours! How in the world did you get it to looks so perfect? Even though it's been a bit cooler here, the icing on our house was so soft it made it look like the snow was falling off the house.

So glad you had a great time with Grace at the show. Every year Natalie picks out a new mini snow globe from the ones they sell at the production. It's so nice because the money goes back to the local ballet company.

Hugs,
Grace

Adorable! Next year I think we'll be doing the gingerbread house! We too love seeing the Nutcracker and have gone to both San Jose, San Fran and our local production as well. Mike loves it more than any of us and has even seen it at the Kennedy Center and can't wait to take our little miss! Enjoy these last few days of fun with your babes.
